What Is The Game About?

Like it’s predecessor, Streets Of Rage 2 is all about the return of Mr X. An evil mastermind that wants to turn New York CIty into his own personal playground.

Of course, he comes with a whole plethora of bad guys willing to do his bidding. Some of which are just runts, while others pack some serious muscle. And that’s not including the robots.

It’s your job to pick the best fighter you think will be the hero of the city and then set about cleaning up the mean New York streets.

Gameplay

Street of Rage 2 is a fighting game at its core. Once you pick your player you will be dropped on to the mean city streets where you must do battle with Mr X’s minions.

You can punch, kick and special move your way through these baddies. You can even pick up the weapons they drop such as knives, swords and steel pipes. Be cautious with the special move though as that zaps a little bit of your energy each time you use it.

The end of level bosses can be seriously tough to beat. And just when you think you have beaten them, they will start to reappear in later stages mixed in with the runts, which really adds to the challenge.

The game can become quite frustrating at points, especially when the enemies really start to gang up on you. But the upside is that the game is relatively short. Depending on your skill level, you should be able to complete the game within an hour and a half.

I give the game a score of 8 out of 10.

I played it through the Gens emulator. You can find the rom and the emulator by doing a quick Google search, they’re very easy to find.
